What are taste buds?
In very simple language we can say that taste buds are small cells present on your tongue, in different sections, which help you to identify the taste of different foods, these tastes may be sour, bitter, sweet, etc.
These taste buds are very sensitive, which can be damaged by a small effect. Like too hot food, or any acidic syrup, etc. that is why for eg. when you drink milk or tea, which is too hot, it will definitely burn your tongue and also kill your taste buds cells which you find difficult to identify the taste of some foods.
